Our "Mama's Birthday" Culinary trip to Italy

Especially for this trip I got my first hiking boots!

Much to the surprise of the bus driver, Mama and Papa insisted to leave the bus before we reached Grand St Bernard pass. Castor immediately familiarised himself with the local "fighting" cows called Eringer. On the pass, with the monks we got free tea because we had arrived on foot! Now I understood why we had to climb the last 400m in altitude on our own. I did not mind too much, as anyway I was carried by Papa, and tea was good. And then, when a strong wind flushed dozens of soft toy "Grand Saint Bernard Dogs" through the road just in front of us, it was great fun to watch!

Descent towards the Aosta Valley was beautiful, and we arrived hungry and sweaty in La Clusaz, Papa's favourite restaurant in Italy! I had a bath in the "bide" which fitted me perfectly, but here you see my reaction when Papa told me that rather than joining them for dinner I had to go to sleep! I wish they had not bought this baby phone! Anyway, I then fell asleep very quickly, and rolled under the book shelves where Mama and Papa could harldy spot me when late at night they returned! I suspect the amount of wine did not help either. ..

Finally, after a walk to Les Etroubles, my gourmet time had come as well: here I grab some dried mountain prosciutto! All flushed down with lots of milk. Multo bene!

On the descent to Aosta, I partly was carried and had a late sleep in, I partly walked, and best, partly sat on Papa's shoulders and operated the walking sticks! He did not like when I hit him, but if they want me to join on these hikes I need to be given I chance to learn the essentials, too!

Even though I had no ticket to pay, I had an own seat in the bus! Later I had to cry a lot because I did not like the safety belt on! But when a man tried to interfere, Mama and Papa defended their strategies on how they bring me up fiercly! Well, I was on their side, after all it is not too bad with them!

Papa and me made too attempts to climb to the Vittorio Sella mountain hat, Castor one attempt until he was sent back because dogs are not allowed in the Grand Paradiso National Park, and Mama only one as well because she had forgotten her study papers in La Clusaz! But here we see what the whole trip was about: good food! I was rather interested in good drink: in the hut I got my first hot chocolate! Delicious.

Godmother Ia: Vittorio Sella was this Italian explorer who made these fantastic black and white photos of Georgia more than a 100 years ago! So Mama and Papa talked about Georgia again over a glass of Italian wine, while more snow fell outside the hut!
After the hiking programme Mama and Papa added a day of cultural programme and we visited a black and white mountain photography exhibition in various old buildings in Aosta. When I had enough of it, I joined Castor outside and we went on our own little tour together!
