For Godmother Ia
This is Ella Tili thinking of her Godmother Ia in these difficult times. We all lack the words to express our concern and emotions when thinking of Georgia. There was no reason for life becoming so difficult again.
Ella has made her first real steps today, still a little shaky, but much determined to explore this world on her own two feet by now. It will not take long until she will set off to visit her Godmother.
All the very, very best from Ella Tili, Katharina, Andrew and Castor
Thinking of you all.

Thank you All so much!
I am ONE year old now, Mama's driver, not afraid of any wild animals, much attracted by fashion magazines (yes Papa, it IS Annabelle!) and I just simply LOVE Nina's birthday cake she made for me! Thank you all so much!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOUNG LADY! I hope that you have a great day. Let's speak soon. Love Phil xxxxxxxxxxx

21 August 2008, 1 year of Mama & Me!

In the late evening of 21 August 2007, I finally made my appearance into this world. Mama took me and held me tight and has continued to look after me and hold me tight for the last 12 months. This Blog entry is a little thank you for all the love and care she has given me. And all the adventures.
In the footsteps of my Great Grandparents, Ella and Otto Haeberli, with Mama at the hotel overlooking the Manyara National Park.
The three Ladies on the rim of the Ngorogoro Crater.

Baby massage was the best and helped me build up my strength and coordination. It was a great idea of Mama's that she and Papa learn it.

On one of my many rail trips with Mama. I traveled with her back from London via Paris and Warsaw.

An early hike with Mama in the Jura before we had found Tamerlan. This was when I was still wearing the duck suit.

Little me looking out of Mama's jacket before we ventured out into the snow on a shopping trip.

A short break and a bit to eat with Mama on the drive to Sadani National Park.

Mama heard many ladies remarking that she carried me the African way. If that was not enough, when Mama replied to them in Kiswahili that completely blew them away. It is the best seat in the house.

After 11 months together with only an hour or two of separation maximum, Mama and I were finally parted for 48 hours when she flew back to Dar es Salaam to meet the new Executive Director. Papa took good care of me apart from the mosquito that shared our hotel the first night Mama was away!
Early kissing practice with Mama.

My first Christmas with Mama.

Mama keeps me warm by an open fire on a skiing trip with Auntie Sylvia, Uncle Adi and Papa.

Lunch on an open fire in the Jura. I look forward to this as I grow older. Castor is never very far away from the food.

Mama, Godmother Anet, Tim and me at Restaurant Guillaume Tell on the plateau. The year before Mama and Godmother Anet had sat on horses in the same spot. Tim and me were literally not in the picture then!

Wherever I went with Mama in Switzerland I was lovely snug and warm. Even if it was snowing outside her jacket.

With Papa away there were days when Mama took me into work.

My Mama and me!

Intrepid adventurers on my first voyage in the Indian Ocean. Lucy was a great Nanny.

Mama giving me my first solid food upon our return to Dar es Salaam. I didn't understand why Mama would not let me use my hands.

Swimming with Mama. Some of my best memories are joining her in the pool after she had finished work.
Mama said I must make sure I learn how to change a wheel. I decided I would be able to repair the puncture as well.

Once again in the pool with Mama - and my red samaki!

Early morning on the terrace with Mama. Sleep ins have become a dim and distant memory for Mama.

One of Papa's favorite pictures of Mama and me.

Time for work...well at least for Mama. I embark on yet another voyage of discovery through Mama's things.
Mama said I was like a Massi with my long stick. There is certainly no problem with my grip!
A well earned drink during a hike while Mama learns more about the local area from our guide.
Sunglasses and sun hat on, all ready for another hike into the mountains.
Dance in a bar with Mama with my socks on!
We had a great walk from Irenta Farm. The Bush Baby was great but now that I am bigger I want a change - something that allows me more movement.
The trip to an island to the north of Dar es Salaam was fantastic fun. I played in the sand and then sat on the edge of the boat on the way back with my feet dangling into the water as we cut through the waves.
After Mama introduced me to the Kempinski breakfast club I have become quite a fan. On this occassion it was with Papa as well.
Mama & I have had some great adventures with Castor. He is slowly getting used to me and we are now developing quite a bond.
I watch and learn and then try myself. Mama is great at letting me try and try and try and try and try...
My Kool Box bath is tops, particularly when it is open air with Mama. Thanks for everything Mama. I look forward to my second year of adventures and learning. All my love Ella Tili.
